The Théâtre Mogador, the largest private theatre in the capital, is ideally located close to the Ouest Hotel. This emblematic music hall-style performance venue in the 9th arrondissement invites you to attend its current production, Ghost the Musical, and the upcoming Around the World in 80 Days.
Ghost the Musical; a blend of love story, thriller and supernatural tale
Adapted from the much-loved box office blockbuster movie, the stage production of Ghost the Musical can be enjoyed at the Théâtre Mogador until June 21st, 2020. It tells the fabulous love story of Sam Wheat and Molly Jensen, two people who nothing, not even death, could separate. Sam is shot by a mugger one night and dies in Molly's arms. He then finds that he has become an invisible ghost who is largely unable to interact with the physical world but manages to communicate with Oda, a supposedly fake psychic, to warn Molly that she is in danger.
This superbly staged show, launched in London in 2011, follows closely in the footsteps of Jerry Zucker's film, released in 1990 and starring three hugely popular American actors; Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg. The French version of this excellent musical fully respects the spirit of the popular film and benefits from an exceptional cast. The superb music and lyrics are by Dave Stewart, formerly of the Eurythmics, and the Grammy Award-winning Glen Ballard. Claudia Tagbo, a comedian who has headlined at the Jamel Comedy Club, brilliantly takes on the role of Oda Mae Brown (Thursday, Friday, Saturday evening and Sunday) alternating with Laura Nanou. All these ingredients combined with superb sets should allow this musical to achieve the same level of success it enjoyed in the United Kingdom, Germany and the United States, where the show was broadcast. Around the World in 80 Days, funny and exotic adventures
At the Théâtre Mogador you can relive the incredible adventures of Phileas Fogg in the new production of Around the World in 80 Days the Musical. Fogg, who has never ventured out of his native London, makes a wager with his fellow club members that he can circumnavigate the globe in 80 days or fewer. This challenge leads our hero and his French servant Jean Passepartout to embark on a fabulous journey full of adventure, pitfalls and colourful characters, during which he meets and falls in love with the beautiful Princess Aouda. The frantic race across the planet, from Paris to New York via Hong-Kong and Bombay by all imaginable means of transportation, will have you on the edge of your seat.
A show bursting with imagination, excitement and humour, Around the World in 80 Days the Musical is definitely not to be missed. It runs from February 8th to April 26th, 2020!
